The Sigma 100-400 mm F/5-6.3 DG DN OS CONTEMPORARY Sony FE-Mount is a compact telephoto zoom lens, suitable for mirrorless cameras with an FE mount. The lens has a focal length of 100-400mm and a magnification factor of 1:4.1, making it ideal for both close-ups and long distance photos. That makes this lens ideal for sports and wildlife photography, for example. The aperture mechanism of the Sigma 100-400 mm, which works electronically, ensures that you can precisely control the aperture at all times.
The optical design of SIGMA's DG DN series is tailored for the short flange distance of mirrorless cameras. By taking advantage of this, high-quality optical performance is combined with a compact body, something that is not possible for SLR lenses. The built-in stepper motor is optimised for both phase and contrast detection autofocus, which makes eye-tracking AF very smooth.
Not only does the Sigma 100-400 mm F/5-6.3 have the usual twist zoom mechanism, but also push/pull zoom, which allows you to adjust the field of view even faster and easier. This ensures that your chance of taking the perfect photo is even greater. The lens hood that comes with the lens is also fully adapted to zoom in and out without any problems and, thanks to the special design, offers you ultimate freedom of movement.
The lens is equipped with an AFL button, that allows you to assign specific functionalities via your camera. The focus limiter switch allows the autofocus range to be adjusted to suit any situation. By connecting the lens with the SIGMA USB DOCK (optional and only for L-mount), you have the possibility to perform firmware updates and to personalise the sensitivity of the focus ring in MF mode.
Do you like to take pictures outdoors? Then you always run the risk of ending up in bad weather conditions or ending up in places where you cannot keep your camera continuously stable. However, that is no problem thanks to the integrated optical image stabiliser. Every movement is detected by the built-in sensor that then effectively stabilizes your images, both when the camera is positioned horizontally and vertically. Optical aberrations have also been minimised by means of four SLD glass elements.
